Birthday of the Jade Emperor

On the 9th day of the Lunar New Year, the Hokkiens celebrate the Birthday of the Jade Emperor.  It is the most important festival during the 15 days of the Lunar New Year.
Celebration will start on the 9th day of the Chinese lunar calendar (ie. after midnight of the 8th day).  It is widely celebrated by the Buddhist and the Taoists Chinese.

The most important offering for the Hokkien community is the sugar cane. The pair of sugarcane plants, one is placed on each side of the offering table symbolises unity, cooperation and strength.
