In celebration of the forthcoming Lunar New Year - the Golden Snake, Chinatown Singapore has put up a lot of decorations. Hawkers are beginning to display their lunar new year wares. Here are the photos taken this afternoon.

Paradise Inn @Bedok Point
Another round of dinner at Paradise Inn. This time we were at Bedok Point for a birthday celebration. Instead of having the same dishes, we have varied a few dishes from the previous ones.
Restaurant is located at 799 New Upper Changi Road, #02-01/04 Bedok Point, Singapore. Contact numbers are: Tel: 64478083 and Fax: 64479232
Wasabi prawns - not spicy enough. It's nicer than the ones coated with salted egg yolk. |
Deep fried toufu with pork floss - very soft and tender. |
Fried chye poh egg. |
Love the asparagus fried with sambal sauce. It's spicy and soft. Highly recommended. |
Fried seafood mee suah - nothing fantastic. Generous serving of fish slices. |
Steamed minced pork patty |

Paradise Inn @Changi T1
We decide to have a family lunch at Changi Airport Terminal One's Paradise Inn Restaurant on New Year's Day. We did not do any booking but decide to take a chance and get there before noon. Lucky for us, the restaurant is still running at half capacity. But right after 12 noon, the lunch crowd (passengers and locals alike) started to walk in. Within half hour, the restaurant was full.
We decide to try a variety of dishes, by ordering all the small serving sizes. We ended up with 9 dishes.
I decide to try the chrysanthemum & rose tea. This is very fragrant and I love it.
This is the prawn roll.
We also tried a plate of fried mee-sua. It is served with lots of prawns and squids all chopped into smaller pieces. It's delicious.
The deep fried cod fish is the most expensive dish we ordered. It costs SGD19.90 a slice but it is really good. One of my favourite dishes in fact.
The fried asparagus with sambal is really good, very soft and all of us enjoyed this dish.
This plate of prawn and duck egg fritters is a bit too 'creamy' for my taste. Next time I shall order the wasabi one instead. I had tried the wasabi prawns at Seafood Paradise Restaurant and that is really thumbs up !
The coffee pork rib is soft and tender - the coffee taste is strong.
Another hot favourite is this deep fried toufu and egg dish.
Overall, the dishes are quite affordable, mostly below SGD15 for small dishes.
B.K.T. Restaurant
We chance upon having lunch at B.K.T. by Kongkee in Far East Square. There are many dishes to choose from the menu which was hung on the side of each table.
We decide to have braised eggs, beancurd, peanuts (groundnuts), sliced fish soup, Bak Kut Teh and braised pork leg.
Slice Fish soup - very peppery yet delicious |
Bak kut teh soup (no extra refills of this dark coloured soup, but they are willing to serve you free refills of the light colour soup). |
Braised Pork Leg - tender |
The restaurant is located along China Street, near Puay Heng Capitol Noodles and Hock Lam Beef Noodles. The address is:
B.K.T. by Kong Kee
19/20 China Street, #01-01, Singapore.
It's open on Sundays as well. The staff are very friendly and there's free refill of the light colour soup (not the dark one though).
A bus ride on a Sat morning
Decide to whip up my Samsung S3 and take some random shots while taking a bus ride from the East to Vivocity on a Saturday morning.
